Project Overview
Cicada was engaged to bring a high-impact visual narrative to the Newfoundland Adult Mental Health and Addictions Facility. Collaborating with B+H and John Hearn Architects, we integrated ourselves into the P3 (Public-Private Partnership) process to ensure our renderings and video work evolved alongside the design. These visuals went beyond representation; they became a primary communication bridge between the architects, stakeholders, and the community. By capturing the atmosphere and social significance of the project, our work helped define the vision for a facility that will provide healing and support for Newfoundland and Labrador for generations to come.
Translating Social
Impact into
Cinematic Narrartive
Cicada’s role went far beyond a standard architectural walkthrough. We acted as a full-service creative partner, authoring the script, directing voice talent, and meticulously shaping the film’s emotional arc. Our goal was to craft a human-centered narrative rooted in dignity, healing, and community. By integrating cinematic storytelling with high-fidelity animation and immersive sound design, we delivered a vision that resonated with stakeholders. This elevated approach was instrumental in securing the P3 bid, helping to move this vital provincial infrastructure toward reality.
Project Questions
How did this help with project fundraising?
Our imagery and video for the NAMHAF P3 centre were shared with specialists, staff, stakeholders, and the community to clearly communicate the design and purpose of the new facility. These visuals helped specialists provide informed guidance and allowed the community to engage meaningfully with the project, strengthening trust and support.
By making the vision easy to understand and respond to, the imagery also helped fundraising efforts by giving donors and partners a clear sense of the centre’s impact and long‑term value.
How did the renderings and cinematic animation help the project?
Our renderings and video supported stakeholder engagement, clarified the design, and helped communicate the social and community impact of the facility. They were an important tool in the P3 process and the successful delivery of the new hospital.
